"changehistory"

Why is some of the information that ought to be in the userchange logs missing?  The answer lies in the admin log.  There is an action called “changehistory”.   (That is not where changes to user account such as name, email, or group are recorded.  That is in the userchange log.)  This is an “action” recorded in the admin log of an alteration in the member’s record.

For the entire first year of the forum, that action was not performed by anyone.  Why should it have been?  Why would the forum history need to be altered?  That would only be necessary if one were trying to hide something.

The first time this action was performed was on July 3, 2010.  In the month of July the records were altered 42 times.  Two of them were done by Danileo.  Forty were done by Judy Okla.  JudyOkla continued to alter the records into the month of August.  The subjects of this action included the new admins, staff members and ordinary members.

Danileo (user id = 57) changed the record for both kaydaniels (user id = 8101) and EvaMarie (user id = 8036).  She did this on July 18.

JudyOkla (user id = 250) altered the record for several of the new admins.  She changed the history of kaydaniels (user id = 8101) once on July 18.   The record of when kaydaniels (8101) was activated and approved is no longer in the userchange log. (see previous blog)

JudyOkla  changed the history of kaydaniels (user id = 8106) six times between July 25 and August 1.  There is no record of when kaydaniels (8106) was activated and approved.  There is no record of when kaydaniels was moved into the administrator group, even though she was moved out of it.

JudyOkla changed the history of jayme (user id = 8109) six times on July 25 and 26.  These actions took place from July 18th to August 1st.  There is no record of when jayme was activated and approved. Jayme had been moved into user group 6 (adminstrators). I know this because jayme was moved out of the administrator group. But the record of when jayme went into that group is missing.

Do all these changes in the forum history explain the missing information in the user change log?  I believe they do.  Unless they were somehow removed, the changes would have been recorded.  But JudyOkla and Danileo altered the records for the faux admin accounts that they had created.

It seemed to me that there should have been a record of history changes for Looie, also.  After all, some of his information was missing.  Well, it seems that staff can also change their own history.  Maybe that is what happened to Looie’s changes.

JudyOkla (user id = 250) changed the history for herself three times (July 3, 24, 25).  She changed the history for Danileo on July 25 and for Hulapig on August 4.  What had these staff members done that needed to be hidden?

JudyOkla and Danileo tried to hide their actions, but did an incomplete job.  Perhaps they thought no one would ever check.  Or, since they were inviting selected members to join them at a new forum, maybe they thought they would not be around to face the music.
